Between yesterday when it was posted and today, an unrestored and rough 1941 Sports Brougham was sold on Facebook and if the buyer is here, I would love to see more of it. These were among the most beautiful coachbuilt Packards of the era in my opinion and I was very tempted. This one had running boards and side mounts but without those, they are not just beautiful but downright stunning in their clean, flowing style and coupe-like rear.

Absolutely, Don. Great example of the reach that the Junior series had. The LeBaron is 100% Senior.

A very good looking car with lots of potential. Also an ambitious project.
Is the design a product of Packards efforts to hold off the nibbles that Cadillac's 60 Special were taking from what had been Packard's market?

I often wonder if any progress has been made on this one.

I suspect it might be the same car but if so it seems to have acquired some grey primer. I can't see too much in common other than the same running board damage and the hole for a spotlight which both appear to have.

Is that what that hole is for, Don?? I have exactly the same hole in my car (size and placement-wise) and when I look at spotlights online, it looks like the through-hole size would have to be significantly bigger. I thought maybe it was for an external radio antenna or something??? Chris.

The one on the a-pillar is for a spotlight. The spotlight has only a small shaft going through the pillar that moves the light in the outside pillar-mounted base but there were also spotlights without any inside controls other than a switch although I don't recall seeing any of that type in the accessory book.

I'm quite sure they are different cars, Don. Note roof antenna on one, no hole for a roof antenna on the other. I do have the vehicle number for the one I posted, I'll dig it out and provide it later.
Chris, I believe the radio antenna (non-roof style) was fastened with two insulator posts to the driver's side cowl panel. These are indeed outstanding cars, I was very fortunate to be closely associated with #41 for a number of years, and there were two others in the area that were often seen at local events.

Dave, I agree that they are not the same car. Too many differences. What I thought was an antenna hole on the roof now appears to be only a mark of some sort.
