I've never had to do that on either my 54 or 37.

It may move a little bit, but not really freewheel.

I have the 3-legged puller and have pulled the rear hubs before (about 4 years ago). I believe I had to block the puller against the floor to keep everything from slightly spinning when hitting it. Is this necessary? I gave it 4 hits about 3 times before thinking of this.

packardsix1939,
for "brokering" the sale of GeorgeN's Packard on behalf of his family.

Once the '39 One Twenty Convertible Coupe is sold, could you please advise so the Registry entry can be updated?

I'm running these American Classic tires on my 54. They mimic the width, size and look of a plybias tire, but are radials. The are distributed by Coker.

I remember my doors also having two different springs as well. But I just don't remember which one was for which handle.

Not sure if it works with all plastics, but I've seen videos where people hit oxidized plastic briefly with a torch, and it immediately removes the oxidation and returns it to its original color.

I've never tried it, but if you had a scrap piece, it would be an interesting experiment.

Tires for 1948 Station Sedan
Just popping in
Just popping in

Jon Kanas
Greetings all,
I am seeking to replace the 7.60 bias ply tires on my 1948 Station Sedan. I have three questions for forum members:

1. Do tires on these cars require tubes, or can they run tubeless tires?

2. Does anyone on the forum have experience using a Coker 235/75-15 radial tire on one of these cars? Will these fit under the fender skirts?

3. Does anyone on the forum have a recommended tire vendor for my car?
Any information from forum members is appreciated.

Here are the springs. I believe the one on the right is accurate. I have no idea where the one on the left came from.

HPH, you can see the escutcheons in the picture as well. Theoretically it should be something that can be printed, but I'm not totally sure how much wear these experience, or how much sun they will get. I may try to paint one first to see how it looks. If acceptable, then I'll go with that. If not, then I need to start looking at other options.

Also check with Joel Ray. I've bought lock knobs and other original interior plastic pieces from him over the years in the correct colors.
