Tires for 1948 Station Sedan

Greetings all,
I am seeking to replace the 7.60 bias ply tires on my 1948 Station Sedan. I have three questions for forum members: 1. Do tires on these cars require tubes, or can they run tubeless tires? 2. Does anyone on the forum have experience using a Coker 235/75-15 radial tire on one of these cars? Will these fit under the fender skirts? 3. Does anyone on the forum have a recommended tire vendor for my car? Any information from forum members is appreciated.

I'm running these American Classic tires on my 54. They mimic the width, size and look of a plybias tire, but are radials. The are distributed by Coker.

235/75 by 15 I'm not sure would be right for you. That's what I use on my 55 400 which is an 8.00x15 size originally.

235 sounds too wide. The original size is a tight fit in back as it is (even without the skirts on)

Kev's tire suggestion is a good one. You may also want to consider Diamondback's Auburn Deluxe tire series. Like the ones Kev suggested, they are tubeless radials made in the vintage sizes and come in blackwall or whitewall styles. I have them on my 32 Ford 3-window coupe and have been most satisfied with the look and performance.

Consider MidAtlantic Packards if you want diamondbacks. There price is less than buying direct . I have gotten four set of tires from them. Dale Mease good guy to deal with

According to model info listing on this site, original size is 7.60 x 15. 7.00 x 15 is an earlier size system and is larger (heavier capacity ) than 7.60. Modern tires such as 235x15 are not suitable replacement tires. Best to go with original size.
