Re: 56 Patrician

Brandon
Its Still been too wet to get anything done on my patrician, and on top of it my little chevy just decided to freak out. Does anyone here know anything about 89 Cavaliers, because if i cant get to work i cant fix up my Packard.

Its a 4cyl 2.0L 5speed Throttle body injection Chevy Cavalier, So what happens is youll try to start it, and it will turn over, but after about 3 or four seconds itll just stop, I checked the battery and its charged, so i went to look at the fuel injector and it seems to dump obcene amounts of fuel (enough it will pool on the choke) into the trottle body. and that about all i could tell.

I'd like to see a count of registry entries added to the top of the main Owner Registry page, as well as a member count on the front page of the website - dynamically updated, of course.

The site and feature have earned their bragging rights.

Keith -

Attached below is a screenshot of a single card as laid out in Word. I pasted a semi-transparent "SAMPLE" over it because I'd rather people didn't try to print a low-rez image.

Nothing flashy, but it sez more than enough for anyone with a genuine interest in Packard.

Also for the fronts: 1971+ Ford 1/2-ton pickup had optional disk brakes with a king pin design. This is what Paul used for his front conversion. About the same work as the other conversions including mine, except it does require machinist work and you have to figure out the steering. Paul proved it will work. See for some details:http://www.1956packardpanther.com/PaulDiscBrakes.html

You still have to replace the dreaded BTV though.

Re: Carburetor leak

Right. The vent for the bowl is present and unobstructed. The gas cap doesn't really have a vent per se, but a gap, and it is open. Also, the 1930 packard 8 was an updraft arrangement, so the excess gas is spilling onto the splash guard behind the generator (starboard side).

How about some strategies for finding the source? The leak is pretty slow, so things like die tracing may not work that well.

You could always hire a machinist and put on Brembo or Wildwood 6 pot discs in front and 4 pot discs at the rear

Thanks guy's for all of the helpful input on this matter. I am also checking with other brake manufacturers on a setup for Packard. I am also going to wire Turner Brake with a request for this product. I plan to use one of the hydroboost systems and I understand it can't be used with just drum brakes. If anything helpful comes by I will post it.

I forgot to mention, the Owner Registry has grown to 107 cars at last count........ Also the user base has grown to 488 registered users.

Thanks Brian and Kev,

I was wondering what the numbers were for users, and as Eric and I say "10,000 miles"! Meaning having the same thoughts but 10,000 miles apart - being a supernatural type experience. Spooky!

It's also interesting about the Owner Registry numbers and as Brian and others know this is a hobby horse of mine. I'd like to see MORE Packards on there as I believe it's literally the tip of the iceberg. Many of the members have multiple Packards listed so this probably reduces the actual members who have their Packards there to something like 50 at a guess. If there are 488 members and presuming most of them have Packards I'd like to see another 300 to 400 on the Registry. Get 'em in there!
