Any way to confirm if this car has a correct 374 engine? Did find 6480406 CD which I think is the part # for this engine?

Hard to beat the cars like your equipped with the side mounts! I like the wheels and hub caps. Adds to the solid look this car exudes.

You seem well one the way! Glad you are building off a restoration in which you can get the paint gloss back! If the tires are from 81, (check the date code) I believe you should go ahead and replace them since dry rot is surely prevalent. The tire may look good but the tread can separate almost at any time. I' sure other can give you further insight on this. Would be a good time to put on those wide whitewalls.

If you have extra hood latches, they are worth keeping since the drivers side is very difficult to find! No sure if they are the same for the 41 but bet they are. That said I'd be happy to do a deal on one of the right side latches with you. robtroxel@gmail.com The shift levers are a real source of frustration and hopefully they were replaced during the restoration. These do pop up on Ebay too from time to time. I carry a 2x4 to aid in unsticking the linkage when on the road. Once again there might be better advice from other members.

Take some pictures. We don't see many 42s .

JohnLaw,

Maybe I missed it but I wanted to know you like the car and in what condition was it in? Hopefully no surprises. What is your plan of attack for fixing the car up.

The top mount antenna is a real bear to find. I gave up and went to a mast mount as suggested earlier.

Keep us posted.

I'd wait on the wheels until you have lived with the car. When you do this there are other things that may need attention, like brakes, shocks, etc. While the wire wheels would be cool, keep in mind, the manufacturer had a look that is also very cool with the stock wheels and hub caps. Non stock wheels can also throw off the offset causing failure of wheel bearings, etc. Sometimes just new trim rings and hubcaps will give you the dazzle Packard fathers intended. We hope you will join the club nationally and locally so we can track this great car.

Yes you can put on radials. Do check the condition of the shocks and suspension. Post some pictures of that bad boy!

The cheaper 55 Clippers had the 320 and I know the Constellations had the 352 with a single exhaust. I think this guy with the crate motor will have it for a long time at that price!

Now that I have successfully changed out my right side grill with a replated unit, I have a driver quality right side grill for sale. Usual pitting but still very presentable.

Glad to hear there are others who work like me>>Slow! One thing that was going thru my mind was just how many bolts hold in the side grill and the lower cover. There must be 8 or 9 bolts just for the side grill alone and about as many for the lower splash cover. Very impressive
