Looks like you have the build slip still stuck between the whistling air vent and the fill tube. Is it complete and still legible?

You might try adding your '52 to your signature line... it might help... a little.

I wouldn't get too overwrought about the oil filter. Bear in mind that in 1941 Packard only put oil filters on cars with hydraulic lifters. The other cars ran just fine with frequent oil changes. In my opinion, it's more important to ensure that your oil pan is free of a possible 77 years of accumulated sludge. Then... run on a nice clean detergent oil such as Shell Rotella 15w40 with or without a bypass oil filter.

A NAPA 1080 fits the factory canister, you might try that. You might also pull the existing cartridge (assuming there is one in there) and see if it's identified with some markings. Otherwise, measure it and see if you can match it up with something NAPA offers.

Can't answer your first question as none of my Packards have accessories using the head bolts (356 engines).

As far as the oil filter is concerned, the 110 and 120 didn't have one as standard equipment. Packard did offer an oil filter as an accessory and is shown in the brochure as attached to the head. I would think that a lot of people added an aftermarket oil filter which could have been attached elsewhere. In that case, I don't think there is a right way or a wrong way. The filter to use depends on the brand/dimensions of the canister installed (photo?).

I can't guarantee that this isn't a case of apples (110) and oranges (180), but this is the front hood connection of my '41 180.

WOW! Thanks for the heads up. I know darn well I've inadvertently had both sides unlocked when working under the hood. I really didn't think that could happen. I'll be more careful now. Glad you weren't really hurt.

Thanks. I looked through the advertising literature but missed that one. That one ad at least shows that the 'Mayfair' label was in use in 1951. Probably just another indicator of management in transition.
