Under hood blanket
Home away from home
Home away from home

Reyman R. Branting
The fiberglass blanket fell off the hood and onto the engine. It is not reusable. Are these worth replacing? I can understand they would insulate the hood thermally, but do they deaden the engine noise? I do seem to hear more engine noise than I remember previously.

What is used to replace them?

Thanks,
Bernardi

Loyd -
Is the evaporator under the dash? Can you open the glove box fully? I have a Vintage Air unit and it is a difficult fit.

Please relieve my ignorance - what and where is the "Owner Registry"?

Computers can be frustrating! I just spent 30 minutes putting thoughts to keyboard regarding all of the above, and it vanished! Tomorrow I'll try again. Too late and too tired now.

Jack -

Is the 200R4 an overdrive transmission too? Are the overdrive ratios the same as the 700R4? vAnd do you have a kit or how would the installation be made?

Re: Jacobs vs MSD ignition systems. Look on eBay. I bought a couple of MSD 6 units that I haven't yet installed. The price was definitely right.

P.S.

I'm glad to hear that Pertronix and multi spark units work together.

Dave -
You mentioned a sign "North Hills Packard" that you would have. Is that the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA? I live in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, am a member of PI, but, with one exception, have no contact with other Packard owners in the area.

If knock in your high compression eight is a problem, install a water injector. The ones available 50 years ago are still on eBay. The new ones are expensive, the old one are not.

I'm not seeing any Cavalier - just a stainless Lincoln and TBird. How do I bring up the Packard?

How about 1955? I haven't looked, but are the solenoids also mounted under the fender? If converted to 12V negative ground, would these work on the 1955 model?
