Re: Remote brake fill kits

Good morning,
I bought a remote brake fluid reservoir last year for my '56 Patrician from:

Dr. Wendall Spreadbury
7437 E ST HWY 21
Nacogdoches, TX 75961-2514

I have neither a phone number or email address, but his reply to my inquiry by snail-mail came within a week. The unit is cast aluminum and mounts on the firewall with 2 screws. a replacement sealed cap for the MC is provided. That cap has a piece of metal tubing sticking out of its top for connection to the reservoir using a piece of flexible brake line (not provided in the kit). The cap on the reservoir contains the vent hole that was formerly in the MC cap. I don't remember exactly the cost, but it was around $100.00 + or - and did the job nicely.

Hi, I was able to get a NOS antenna cable for my '56 Patrician from Kanter last August. At that time, they had a few left in stock. Don't remember the price, but it saved all the hassle of looking for someone to custom build a cable that might work. Harold Rushing had just completed the rebuild of the radio, and he did not have source for the cable at that time. It is listed in the parts book, under accessories under RADIO, Antenna - DETAILS OF PA472018 - Antenna "electric" ALL 55th; 56th. Lead-in cable - part # 472052.

Thank you gentlemen! I was thinking of ordering the Steele grommets with the 1/4" inter hole, and altering that to accommodate the ignition wire, but I will wait to see what Jack Vines finds from his Steele order.
Happy Labor to the US and Canada participants....

V8 Ignition cable support bracket grommets

Group 4.11096
Part # 6489378
I am looking to replace what looks like the original rubber ignition cable support grommets on the 56 Patrician. I have checked with the usual suspects (Kanter, Max, Steele) who don't seem to have this part.
It was suggested that I try one of the big box auto parts supply stores, as it may have other uses, but no luck there either.
Has anyone located a source for these? I thank you!

Thank you gentlemen,
I was not aware of Av-Ve-Co, sounds like a great resource. I decided that plastic fasteners in this application were not offensive, and was going to see if there was a local distributor for Av-Ve-Co, or if not convenient, just order from Restoration Specialties, but I needed another can of trim adhesive, so went down to the local NAPA store. I never looked there before for trim fasteners, but they had a fair selection, including some wire clips. Below is what I chose. They look like they should work.
Thanks again.

Trunk lining fasteners

New Year Greetings to the forum!
My end-of-2012 Packard project is to install the "new" trunk lining in the '56 Patrician. I bought a trunk lining kit at one of the Packard meets back in '01 and am now satisfied that I won't be getting paint on it in the near future, so in it goes.
The lining panel on the rear of the back seat is held on with 10 fasteners - Packard Part # - 339437 which I believe I have pictured below (It was the only fastener left in either the X or top support) so I am assuming that it is what was originally used by the factory.
Restoration Specialties has something close to the original in their #3885, but the original clip, and the Restoration Specialties clip are difficult to remove once installed, and I was wondering what others have done to fasten this panel for easier removal in the future. Possibly some sort of a wire clip with a button?
I do understand that this may be a moot point as how many times do you need to remove that panel once it is installed, but since I am in the process I thought I would canvas those who have gone before me with this for their thoughts.
Thank you all for a great site.
Fran

Howard, Thanks for the data plate info. i will contact Carribbean dude and see if he has the correct plate, and I suspected that both pieces were necessary for the speeometer, but I had received some opinions to the contrary, so I thought it best to chedk with the experts.
