Re: The Rolls Royce Myth

Peter: I have never viewed the article you site in Fortune
Magazine. Just wondering out loud how qualified the people or persons were that wrote the story. So being that you weren't actually there you can't be sure the information in the story was correct.

As far as any comments on the latter part of your last post it deserves none.

Thanks. He and I have communicated several times. I myself have been working on a book on the 22nd and 23rd series cars. Mine covers all of the models from 8s to Customs, to commercial cars. I have been working, slowly, on the book for the past three years. I current have just over 250 pages and somewhere around a hundred photographs. Mostly I need some quality photos of the commercial/professional cars.

The DVD keeps coming up on Australian eBay. DVD starts at $0.01c, which is what I paid for mine! But they've upped the Shipping cost to AU$16.00, about US$12.50.

Yes - a toast to Kev for the site and Brian for enhancing it.
I believe I could even have a dram or two of the hard stuff to congratulate Brian for his hard work.
Seriously, we all appreciate your efforts.

I strongly believe your problem is a main leaf with an inadequate load capacity and spring rate and as I and others have noted you could consider having the leaves rearched; this is kind of a primitive practice but will give results. But you might also consider a practice that Packard recommended for cars subject to extraordinary loads and that was to replace the second leaf with a 2nd leaf from an "export" spring so perhaps your spring shop could find a heavier second leaf. Certainly not the perfect answer but might get you close to where you want to be. I've no experience with just adding another leaf but suspect it will be very detrimental to the ride quality and still may not get you what you want.

I sure will but it might be a couple of days as the car is having a head liner installed and not here.

Could you post pictures of both rear springs? These may give some clues as to what is the cause of the problem.
