If you have the two bolts saftey wired together (as Packard had them), then there is really no way for the bolts to fully turn unless the wire broke.

Well if you want to maintain the look of the factory fuel pump, but render it a "dummy", then just remove the arm from it and also remove the fuel pump valves inside, and then route the fuel through the actual body of the pump.

No one will be the wiser! Just make sure the main diaphams are still good.

Or if you want to maintain the vac section, the just remove the fuel valves from the fuel section and leave the arm in place.

Just throwing out ideas here.

I'd check it anyway. One person's idea of "complete" is different than another's.

Re: Jacobs vs MSD ignition systems. Look on eBay. I bought a couple of MSD 6 units that I haven't yet installed. The price was definitely right.

P.S.

I'm glad to hear that Pertronix and multi spark units work together.

Dave -
You mentioned a sign "North Hills Packard" that you would have. Is that the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA? I live in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, am a member of PI, but, with one exception, have no contact with other Packard owners in the area.

MONKEY WRENCH - not to interrupt but - Chevy had a 8 volt battery in some of their 1954 pickup trucks. It would crank the engine over like mad. Sure had no problems firing it up in the winter time. All bulbs were 6 volt.
When the old 8 volt died I tried a new 6 volt battery but there wasn't enough power to start it.
I went nuts looking for a new 8 volt and finally had to have one made.

Welcome aboard. This is a great site for all kinds of Packard info as the name applies. Since you live in Macedon, you may be familiar with the Wayne Drumlins AACA region. I used to belong to the region when I lived in Rochester some years ago. They are a great way to get started and hold a great show in August at Marion Town Park. Several members are also members of GVACs in Rochester and East Grand Packards in the Webster area. Check them out. I am sure that you will enjoy your Patrician. My wife owned one until about 4 years ago, the less said about that the better for it is a sad and painfull tale. The car was great but the disposition of it was not so great, anyhow enjoy it and if you have any questions that I can help with let me know.
Al
