Does anyone have or know where I can get a J6065 Front Load Arm Holding tool?

I'll do that thanks. BTW, I remember seeing somewhere on this forum instructions on heightening the rear of the front seat so it'll sit a little higher and not at an angle. Do you know where those instructions can be found?

Ok....what do I need to do/check before I put this unit back into the car? I understand what you're saying, but unless I put a ground wire on one of the screws on the cap of the motor or to the adjustment strap on the actuator, it won't turn/energize. As soon as I ground it, it turns.

That's great info I'll keep in mind; however, I, along with the help of Randy Berger, discovered that all I needed to do was to ground the motor casting. When I did that, everything worked fine. The wiring diagram does not show that you have to ground the motor in order to test the operation of the actuator. Thanks again for everything.

The finger for "D" is now over the open slot in the segment. When I first removed it from the car the finger for "R" was over the open slot. I also have the motor control relay/shift relay grounded.
Will it harm anything if I momentarily connect the red and green wires from the motor together to jump-start the motor?

Thanks. I connected everything per the TEST WIRING DIAGRAM; however, when I push any other button other than "D", the Motor Control Relay just chatters and the actuator does not turn. What do I need to check? I even tapped on the side of the motor just to see if that would help, it didn't make. What do I do now?

Does anyone have a diagram of how to get the PB control assembly, actuator and motor to wok when they're on a work bench? I have them on my work bench so I can adjust the actuator to make sure the fingers stops exactly where they're suppose to? I've tried using the diagram in the SB, but I can't seem to get things to work. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks. The reason I'm looking at this is because I have to occasionally push my desired button(s) more than once before it actually goes into that gear. It appears that it's stopping at pretty much the same place every time every time I push a button (not directly in the center of the space, but just barely missing the left edge of the contact segment). So I gather this is what you're saying I should consider doing:

1. Check, and ever so gently, turn the worm sector screw until it's tight if it's not already tight. Is the worm sector screw the screw that's at the end of the motor?

2. Loosen the two bolts that hold the long strap and then slightly rotate the motor assembly up or down to make sure the transmission vale is centered in the detent.

Was your reference to the adjustments in the service manual pertaining to what has to be done when/if it's discovered that the pot metal lever in the transmission is loose on the shaft because of stripped threads or the setscrew loosening on its own?

What do I adjust to get the contacts of my push button actuator to be directly over the opening in the control plates as stated on page 15 & 16 of the "Electric Autolite Service Manual" general notes? I notice that no matter what button I push, the actuator contact is touching the left side of the contact plate instead of being over the opening between the contact plates. Please advise.

A BIG thanks goes out to everyone for your generous information and advice. It looks like all I have to do now is find the time to "just do it". I'll report back when the project is finished.
