I also am not ashamed to say that I have never heard of the Esquire either. Look forward to being enlightened on the subject.

I got 100% too, but I bet if they tried this with photos of cars from the 2000s I would not do so well.

That was kind of fun but too easy. Years ago didn't Old Cars (the newspaper magazine) have a puzzle that would just show a part of the car like the tail light or fender or something and you had to guess what car it was.

I bought my first Packard the summer of 1975, I was between my junior and senior year of high school.

It was a 1955 Clipper constellation I paid $200.00 for it. I had to tow it home on a chain behind my dad's pick-up because it had not run in a few years and the owner had lost the keys.

I had it running before noon the next day,(a Saturday) and drove it to work on Monday. I loved that car, but it ended up having the low oil pressure problem.

A funny thing at the time, I decided to drop the pan and look at the oil pump and crank bearings, so I went to the local Napa auto parts store and asked for a pan gasket. The guy went into the back and came out with a whole engine gasket kit for a V8 Packard, blew the dust off it and handed it to me. He only charged me a few bucks for it, said it had been there for years. I only used the pan gasket, but had the whole kit including head gaskets. Wish I could remember what ever happend to the rest of those gaskets,I must have given them away when I sold the car.

Anyone catch a show called 'Warehouse 13" on the Sci Fy channel?

There was a brief scene with a 56 Caribbean convertible on the episode that aired last week. Wonder if the owner is on this forum.

I asked the seller about the trim and he said the Packard has been the family for 20 years and it was that way when they got it. However it had been repainted sometime before and it may have been changed at that time.

I found this ad on e-bay for a 55 Patrician.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1955-Packard-Patrician-sedan-/110695547911?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c5f80407

I have not seen one with this side trim, other than the photos of the 25,000 mile test car. (if you cannot see the e-bay ad, the side trim looks like that on a Clipper DeLuxe.)

Was this trim available in 1955 or is this an early production car? I actually like it better than the usual part way foil trim piece.

Here is an ad for a reproduction of the style air cleaner that all of my V8 Packards had. Including the Clipper Custom with 352.

I once owned a 55 Clipper Custom Constellation hard top. It had the 352 engine with a four barrel carb, I don't remember if it was Rochester or Carter, but it definitely had the air cleaner with the scoops on the sides like the senior cars.

I later owned a 56 400 and a 56 Pat and they both had the same kind of air cleaner as my 55 Clipper Custom, only one of them was chromed instead of black.
