Quite possible. Given the price of fuel, and the less than stellar fuel economy of my car, I think I'll adjust the springs so the car sits at the height I want with an empty fuel tank.

I just had a look at this picture in the owners manual and this would suggest the back should be even a bit higher. But if my front is sitting a little bit low as well, which presumably after 70 years it is, I don't want to jack up the back and make it look like a funny car! Looking at correcting the driver's side sag on my leaf springs as well. Can someone point me towards where I can find the specs for how high my 53 Cavalier should be sitting? I would guess both sides are a bit weak, but not sure.

Here's a couple of videos. The FB post is from when the car was first started, so very little run time or tuning. The video of the lifters is a couple weeks later after running it more and getting it tuned better. A sticky valve is certainly a possibility. https://www.facebook.com/groups/170699753756/permalink/10159826976128757/?sfnsn=mo&ref=share&mibextid=6aamW6 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GP24x44QBN-ww6j8Tll6vkgHY_nT-PsD/view?usp=drivesdk

Ross, do they come with an empty SPAM can? Even better a full one that needs to be emptied?
On a serious note, for a car with a noisy lifter that has recently been started back up, after not running for many years/decades, how long does a person wait/hope that the lifter is only sticky, and will free itself up, before cleaning and testing the lifters?

Here's a thread talking about lifters. https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?start=0&topic_id=15045&order=ASC&status=&mode=0 I'll be interested to hear responses, I have a noisy hydraulic lifter and thinking I may need to replace it.

The shop that just rebuilt my generator said that guys will sometimes crank up their voltage regulators because they'll put out a bit more while puttering around town, but then it can be too much if you're out on the highway. (The guy that rebuilt my generator has been rebuilding generators since the 70's)
Just a caution that you don't turn it up too much! He also said to make sure the points are clean. This can be an issue particularly for cars that are not used regularly. Information on setting/testing regulators in the Literature Archive.
