John, Thanks for your help with this. a fellow over at the AACA site confirmed that these are indeed correct points for the 356 engine Ina 1947 Packard. I did try a set and they did fit but not well in my opinion but they did work.

Autolite #1-14 (IGW-3028XS) Point Sets ?

Years ago I bought a box of 10 point sets for my 1947 Packard Super Clipper. They were sold to as being correct for the IGT-4023 distributor on my car. They are not and I have been unable to find what vehicle.these point sets fit. If anyone has an old Autolite catalogue and can identify the correct application for these points I would be very grateful. I am cleaning up my garage and don't want to toss them out as I am sure someone somewhere can use them. Thanks.

This is the history that should be preserved. Thanks for posting. I bet that he has many stories to tell of his days in Burma and flying experiences before , during and after the war but it might be difficult for him like many veterans who faced the horrors of combat. These old vets are slowing slipping away so it is important to preserve their memories if they will tell them. I love that Virginia accent!

I have used Shell Rotella in my Packard and other cars going back to the 1960's with no issues whatsoever.

Looking at that instrument panel reminds me of my time working on PBY Catalina's and DC3's in the 1960's except I wasn't on the lookout for an enemy fighter on my tail. I can't imagine keeping track of all those instruments while in combat. The men and women who flew these machines certainly were the Greatest Generation.

Bob, I sure wish that I were able to go. I went to the Gilmore once in the early 1990's when they had a Packard specialty show and it was awesome. Please post photos.

Howard, Our PBS comes from Minneapolis/St Paul. Yes they do a fair amount of pledge programming but I guess since they have no advertising income that's how they raise money? But when they run shows like American Experience, Nova , Nature and the first rate British dramas such as Foyles War or Downton Abbey it spoils me from watching Orange County Choppers or Pimp My Ride ad nauseum Maybe my age showing?
