the idea was to offer the kits at a better price to my packard brothers. but since people keep posting everyone else's ads instead of helping me gather the info i need concering demand for the kits, i'm thinking of killing the idea!

i can vouch that the packards get drive'n. i first met dave and laurel at our regional meet we held in kearny mo. they had just picked up the blue 55 400 and drove it on our tour we had during that regional. i have not been able to talk to either of them in some time, and hope i will get to soon. i have been to the station, and i think it is a must see!

i wouldn't tow it on a dolly unless you unbolt the drive shaft from the rear end. already been down this road with towing packards on a dolly!

''Which I find interesting because I assumed from the level of knowledge floating around that I was getting sage advice from seasoned Yoda-esque masters. A lot of you are young pups like me here at 33.''

Some of us young (32) pups have family that have been building packards since the end of wwII and have "taught us well" and after having those same men start us at a young age (10) we HAVE become seasoned!

jd, you may want to rethink this idea. i had two customer's cars do the same thing one convertible and one 4dr. both 49's. they both had bad DIMMER SWITCHES.

i have a customer who used to build allison powered pulling tractors with his dad. he has one customer left running the allison, all others have gone to turbins. However, what i am leading up to is that i asked him if anyone in the pulling world had ever tried the "packard" engines.
he told me that he and his dad had in fact tried them. both the packard/merlin and the packard pt boat engines.
he said that they were great engines to work on and with, but that they have a different power curve than the allison. and due to the difference in power curve/band they could never get them to be competitive.

i would not use ANY of those led replacement lights!!!!! i have seen them installed, and they are worse than a weak standard bulb! it seems to be that this is because the leds point out, and not back at the reflector. so you only get a small amount of light from them. buyer beware!
