1932 4sp syn. Trans.

Every so often i hear that the early '32 T6 had a 4sp synchromesh transmission. Is this an OLD WIVES TAIL or do they truly exist? Never seen it in an advertizment. Its not listed in the parts book. Never seen or heard of a 32 with one. Story ive heard over the yrs is, it was a failure and the pulled it from production, replaced it with the earlier NON syc 4 sp and later installed the 3 sp syc. BUT this is a fairy tail story and is it BS?

Anyone know if the painted shell & shutter & HL bar on the 32 vic is orig. Guessing the photo was taken in the 60s so it could have had a repaint.

Tim - had this vac/fuel pump thing happen on my 1100 about 20 year back. Cant remember how much it was burning but it was enough to get my attn. It never showed anything coming out of the tailpipe.

Have u checked the Vacuum Diaphragm on the fuel pump. When these go bad the engine vac. will suck the oil out of the crank case.

Im thinking maybe u have 2 or 3 small leaks at the rear and its looking like one big one and the large loose of oil is coming from via. vacuum. A drop of oil of the floor can look like a qt.

Heres a great example of body/wheel matching hupcap
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2659555328/nm0000964

I love this photo - its shows so many features
-Bumper recessed area is painted body color
-Fender Welting is body color
-Pad under HL bracket is body color
-Hood Corner Bumper is body color
-Shows a Pin Strip in the bumper recessed area - AN OPTION?
-AND the Hubcap painting - AN OPTION?

Its no secret that some hubcap strips and PACKARD EIGHT & PACKARD SUPER EIGHT surround and luggage rack medallion surrounds got paint body or wheel color; Parts Book states to specify color. If you study factory photos it seems like not all cars got treated to this feature. My question is why did this happen. Was it an option? Ive never seen a Packard piece of paper stating anything about it other than the Parts Book.
