FWIW
I had the same experience when I installed new shoes on my 56. The front would embarrass the hell out of you when stopping. Took drums and shoes to local brake shop and had softer lining bonded on shoes and shoes indexed to drum, stopped ALL squeal, then installed disc's, go figure?

mikec,
If you try the site I listed in post above, click on Packard, it breaks the marque down in years and model with carb type used for that year and model and then gives kit part number.

Mostly Moores, Staples and Fergusons - Holland Dutch,Scotch (not Scottish) Irish and not a drop of English blood. If you can make an Englishman out of that stew you are welcome.

By the way we know what Fenians are around here. They over ran the Canadian border by way of the US in 1866 - and ran back even faster.

At first I thought this "was" off topic until I realized what the title of the thread was.

You're welcome,
Bought one myself and put it in my 56 Exec and glad I did. I play an FM tuner through it with Oldies station and sounds like 1956 again and like you said, don't need all them amps for the old sound. Also when we take long trips my wife likes movies so I play the DVD player through it too, great!!!

You can also go to hotrodhotline.com, click on 2009 Show Coverage and click on Franklin Lakes, NJ, page 2&3 for showing of Packards at the show. Very nice gathering from what I saw.
