Re: Storage

So using a coolant additive, like Water Wetter, is not really needed? The only time it would get driven or started during the winter months is if the temperature is above 50 degrees farenheit(which is possible in Indiana). I was also planning on putting DampRid inside to keep moisture down/out since it does have some leaky spots, but hopefully the cover will block those. Also, is there anything particular to do when I start it for the first time after storage? Thanks!

Its getting colder and wetter here in Indiana and its coming to the point where I need to store my '53 Clipper. It will be outside with a cover. I'm curious what things need to be done for storage? Probably 4-6 months. Do I need to use a fuel stabilizer(it has about half a tank right now)? Disconnect the battery? Oil additive? Any chemicals? I did an oil change on 10/25 (about 60 miles ago). TIA!

Has anyone mounted fog lights to the front of their car without having to drill directly into the bumper? I would rather not drill holes into the chrome on my '53 Clipper. I thought about using the license plate bracket that is already there but could only fit 1 in reality. Thanks in advance!

Makes sense,I do drive it almost 5 days a week for work. I put probably about 1000 miles on it in a little under a month. It's 20 miles one way to work. Plus at least one weekend day for a cruise.

So the oil change every 1k miles isn't really needed? I put 10w-30 convential in it and changed the filter about 1k miles ago. The oil level and color look alright, but I swear I read on here that since the oil is different than what was available back then, it should be done more often with todays oil. I am completely new to the Packard world and am trying to learn as much as I can and appreciate all the advice I'm getting.

I'm getting ready to do the second oil change (since I've owned it) on my '53 Clipper 5.4L, and in the service manual I have, it says to replace the oil filter every 8k miles? It says, "It is recommended that the oil filter element be replaced by a new one every 8,000 miles to coincide with the engine oil change..." I replaced the oil and filter about 900 miles ago and I thought I read somewhere on here to do it every 1,000 miles.

Is that the same on the hood ornament or was the cormorant offered in '53?

I've noticed on my 53 Clipper Deluxe Touring Sedan that my headlight bezels look nothing like all the other pictures I'm seeing. Mine have a raised chrome "fin", if you will. All the other pictures I have seen, they are just round chrome bezels.
