1941 160 Distributor Help

Hi All,

Excited to finally start to get my Packard back on the road,

My largest hurdle as of yet is a missing distributor in my car. From what I've been able to work out the car should've been fitted with an Autolite IGT4102, however I'm unable to find one. My question is two fold, Does anyone have a 4102 or one that will work, and if not does any other distributor cross reference?

Thanks in Advance,
Ian

I have a 4502 from a 1941 120 but I expect it would not be the best for your car unless all else fails.

Have you tried David Flack flackmaster in TX or David Moe Packard Seattle Co in WA or Max Merritt or Kanter Auto.

I'm surprised you can't find one. An IGT-4203 works with the 356 engine also.

IGT 4203 was used in the 356 engine from 1942 thru 1950 and has the same full mechanical and vacuum advance specifications as your OEM distributor.

EDITED to ADD: Any distributor that is physically compatible can always have its centrifugal and vacuum advance characteristics altered to meet the needs of the engine.

Hi,

Thanks for all the quick responses, I called Hagens and their distributor stock went up in a fire a few years back, and Kanter said they only do exchanges,

And thanks for the tip on the 4203 also working, let me beat some bushes today, and Ill circle back in a bit,

Cheers,
Ian

I have an Autolite distributor on a 1950 super 8 parts car with a 327 in it. I'll check the number on the tag in the morning and see if it matches the one from the 356s. It might need to be rebuilt as the engine has about 130K miles on it. At least you would know where this one came from.
