1929-31 horn button schematic

I need photos or a good schematic as to how the horn button is wired and insulated. My service manual has a schematic, but being a reprint, not very good detail. And, even if it was a good reprint, I don't think it would quite show what I need to see. So, any photos of this wire/insulator going back together would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is the area I need to see pulled apart. The detail of the insulator, brass cup, solder, wire, etc.

I believe I've got my answer. The horn wire should have gone through this little insulator before soldering the horn wire onto the little brass cup that the horn button presses into. Unfortunately, the little black piece is sitting in my hand, and not on the steering wheel. I'm glad I caught it before wiring up the whole shish kabob.

The wire that runs up the steering column to the horn button is live so it needs to be insulated. Pressing the horn button shorts it to earth completing the circuit and powering the horn

Does the black plastic piece sit inside the large spring shown in the above picture? If not, where does it go to provide the insulation? There is a small spring on the underside of the horn button. What does it bear against to provide the spring action?

Its many years ago since I set these horn buttons to work on my 2 633's and I regret not taking photos. The wire up the steering columns terminates with a tiny ferule soldered on to create a contact and to hold it in place. The insulating bush simply insulates that contact from the column and holds it in place.
The button has a brass screw under its centre that connects to earth via a washer under the top of the spring and the spring onto part of the steering column. The spring holds the button away from the live contact. When the button is pressed the spring compresses and the screw head contacts the wire completing the circuits.
Hope that helps.

I am wiring up the horn on my 1929 640 and am not sure how it goes together. The pictures in this thread do not correspond with what my setup looks like. I have attached a picture of where it stands right how without the little brass contact soldered on the wire and without the horn button installed. Is there supposed to be an insulator in there? I can't see how it makes contact.

Got the missing insulator and now everything makes sense.
