Somewhere in this forum the advisability of replacing 1930 385 cid stamped rockers with forged rocker arms was discussed. It seems that forged rockers are superior and those from later years could be used. Perhaps 1931 up through 1936? Anyone have a definitive answer?

Have you taken the opportunity to read thru the 1933-34 Service Letters? I'm quite sure I've seen it covered there. Yes, it's a common exchange, the forged arms represented an improvement and are more robust.

A stamped rocker arm can be replaced with a forged rocker arm. For a 1929 I know that the forged rocker arm from e.g. 1934 is little bit longer, and then it is needed to change the position between camshaft and crankshaft with one tooth, to secure the correct timing.

Thanks for the advice gents. Winter arrived last night in a fury. Don't think I'll be getting to this until spring.

There are a full set of forged cam rockers on Ebay this week look under Packard Parts for sale. If I needed them they would be gone. I have forged ones on my 32 but redid the pins and rollers which was not that bad of a job. Price is right too on those ebay ones.

Thanks Gary, you're speaking of the two listings with forged rockers by Pack120fan (Ulrich): 1930-36 Super 8 half set and 1932-39 Std/Sup half set - levers good for 384?
