Looking for a suggestion on the copper vacuum lines. Also, was the copper gas line painted black?

The gas lines were steel rather than copper. I'm not sure it they were installed before the chassis was painted or after but if before, then they ended up with black chassis paint but otherwise they were plain steel.

I have copper painted lines on my 42 and never lost a point at many shows including PI nantional neet.
