Anyone know where i can get a Fast Idle SPRING for a 1940/180/Stromberg AAV-26

Have you tried Daytona Parts?

If you have your carburetor rebuilt by Daytona, you'll get a spring. It will be taken from a used carb in their core inventory. They don't sell the spring on its own. I will see if I can find my old thread on this subject.

I dont have the orig Spring so guessing how it attaches

One end raps around the Fast Idle Cam
One end goes through a 1/64 dia hole in the Actuator/Pull Off Lever

Right - Wrong ????????????

I'll take close-up photos tonight when I get home from work.

Here are some photos. My spring is shorter because the end broke off and had to be reshaped.

Joe, have the same carb on my 1940 180 and it doesn't have a fast idle spring either. On my fast idle cam there is a hole that looks like it would be for a spring, have always wondered if the spring was missing? Does your 180 have a dash mounted throttle cable like mine? To me, the missing sping doesn't seem to be a problem anyway because on cold start up the fast idle cam is controlled the choke. Speaking of this carb, the inlet check valve controlled by the floats gets stuck in the up position at times and the carb runs out of fuel. It appears the rubber tip on the top of the check valve is getting stuck in its inlet seat. Recently rebuilt this carb and I'm wondering if the this check valve is not suitable for modern fuels and has softened causing it to hang up in the port opening? Unfortunately, through away all my old parts before this problem appeared. Have you experienced anything like this?

Yes, Bill, you can see the hole on the fast idle cam in photo CarbSpring2.
And yes I have a hand throttle. Not sure how you get away without that spring. My car was "Fluffing out" because the choke was flipping closed and open without that spring connected (it had broken on one end)."

I recall a piece of leather in there was pretty shot. Will look it up.
