exhaust pipe flange gasket issues

In trying to button up the exhaust pipe flange joint, the one at the end of the manifold, I am having a tough time getting a good seal between the pipe and the manifold. Before I disassemble the two again, does anyone have any detailed photos that show what I am suppose to have at that joint? The car is a 1938 Eight 1601 Sedan with a totally stock exhaust system.

Thanks for the help.

Any Muffler shop can help, Chrysler used a lot of deformable graphite doughnuts in the 80's-90's that will fit.

The diagram in the parts listing wasn't useful to you? As 64Avanti said the crushable ring gaskets are available.

I had the exact same problem on a brand new exhaust system. I finally got out the hacksaw and cut right through the weld 80% through. I made the cut on the side that needed to close up. If you run feeler gauges around the bolted up flange that leaks (make sure you have both ends bolted), you will see which side is the widest. That is your hinge side (the part you don't cut). I bolted the pipe backup on both ends and measured the new gap. Pulled it out, set the gap and welded it with a MIG. I bolted it up and now no problems with it leaking. The other end is another story.
