...does somebody know what is in this little black box which is mounted on the side of the distributor?
The box is closed by 2 rivets. Before I try to open it I like to know if there is sens in.

You didn't mention a model but if your car is a model 136, 143, 236, or 243 eight with a Delco distributor then from the parts detail shown on page 11 of the 23-25 parts manualpackardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1923-25_PackardEightPartsList.pdf the black box is a condenser. There is a similar box on the parts shown for a 21 - 22 single six distributor if the later cars used the same distributor.

Thank you Howard, my Car is a 136 and you are right. Page 11 shows exact this piece. Think,.. this original condenser was broken so .. they cut off the little wire and installed the extra condenser on the side. I let the box on place put a new wire whitout function on it that it looks original. I dont need any other condenser because I install an electronic ignition.

I find the green paint interesting because it is a dead ringer for Billy Hirsch's 745 that was original paint.
