Thanks for the mini-tour. I had never seen the Astral before.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Troy. The Astral's steering pod reminds me of a modern day F-1 steering wheel. The Predictor looks better in these photos than in others from the time when it was new. One of those 'better in real life than in photos' situations. The '58 Packard Hawk looks especially nice.

Nice pix! As our historic cars become museum pieces and are looked upon as art work it is important for them to be over restored and displayed to create the wow factor not just for our generation but for the young boys and girls who may be inspired. Sorry Owen and to all the purists. Even over restoration has its place.

About 20 years ago I spent a day at the Studebaker Museum at its old location. At that point the Studebaker plant was still standing, I don't know if it still is or not. It was enjoyable but very sad. Much of the economy of South Bend was dependent on Studebaker, but the plant reminded the citizens daily that it was all gone. Bully for them for not letting such an important enterprise to be forgotten Best John Harley

Yes John, Many of the Studebaker building are still up and in use. The largest building still standing is used to house a computer network system. The main Bendix plant is now Honeywell, but their older smaller plants are still standing as well.
South bend did a good job forming the Studebaker, Oliver, and South bend Lathe legacies into a new center for history. Our local Packard club will be hosting the 2017 Packard meet at the Studebaker Center.
