Pictures from the Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village this week end. I went back Sunday to see the Old Pacific run. It was neet to see a 1903 racer up and running through the streets of the Village.

Quote from the Old Car Festival handout:
"In august 1903, the Packard nicknamed "Old Pacific" completed the transcontinental journey from San Francisco to New York in record time. Tom Fetch, Packard's plant foreman, and journalist Manus Krarup drove 3,500 miles in 61 days, breaking by three days the record set that July by Dr. H. N. Jackson (of PBS "Horatio's Drive fame) in a Winton"

They just ran a story on the NBC affiliate here that a participant's truck and trailer containing his 1916 Ford Model T and Model A P/U were stolen out of the motel parking lot where he was staying in Allen Park.
Quel bummer. I'll expect to see those on the streets of Detroit soon riding on 22s and Toyos. THe thump=Thump stereo might pose a challenge though.

How sad. I'm guessing the perps skip the 22's and head straight to the scrap yards.

The old Fords and the car hauler they were in were all recovered the next day in east Detroit in a vacant lot. The pick-up the family used to pull the rig was gone however....

Glad he got his cars back. Model T's & A's make horrible getaway cars these days and parts might be a little hard to fence or move--even in Detroit. The PU on the other hand, is undoubtedly history.
