National Packard Museum Show, Warren, OH - July 19-25, 2010

Although it has been pretty much all work and no play for me this summer, I wanted to post a reminder about this show, which is coming up soon.
See the National Packard Museum's Events Calendar for more information. While events run the full week, the Packard Car Show is on Saturday, July 24. Also, that day will start off with a ribbon-cutting for the museum's new 10,000 sq. ft. addition. Meanwhile, I've learned that the GM-Pepsi Then & Now Cruze-In, an all-GM car show, will be held in downtown Warren on the same day, with a caravan of Lordstown-built GM vehicles arriving later that morning from the plant. GM cars, past and present, will be staged in areas surrounding Courthouse Square. Clearly, there will more things than ever for old car enthusiasts to take in during the Warren meet this year.

Thanks for the pix! I was a bit disappointed with the vehicle turnout, this year, but it looks like there were some cars that I missed. Due to problems at home, I didn't get to the show until 1PM, and cars were leaving before 3PM. While Gettysburg may have cut in on attendance, I'm sure the weather was also a factor. It felt even hotter than 94F on the parking lot of the Music Hall, where the show was held this year. I prefer the relative shade of the South Lawn of the Music Hall, with the W.D Packard Concert Band playing, outdoors, in the afternoon. Still, I was glad to run into a few friends, including Randy Berger, who kept me hydrated with plenty of ice-cold bottled water. For me, the highlight of the trip was the Museum itself, and not just because of the air conditioning - LOL! The new addition to the Museum, dubbed "The Great Hall" hosts their permanent collection of Detroit-built Packards. While the structure is finished, inside and out, it appears that the display area is still something of a work in progress. Judging from an architectural drawing hanging on one wall, I get the feeling that some intended display fixtures will give it an auto show appearance. In fact, they have the original pushbutton transmission control display that was used in the 1956 auto show circuit. The Warren Museum sure has come a long way, having started out with nothing more than a storefront on Courthouse Square, and then renovating what was once a pool house, just in time for the Centennial.

Scott: Thanks for for pictures from Warren. If it wasn't for taking care of some unfinished business with PAC I would have probably chosen to go to Warren instead of Gettysburg. The wallet didn't allow both in the same week.

Hi
My grandfather used to be in the Packard Club and he used to go to Warren, Ohio and I would go with him. It's been 11 years since I've been to Warren, but when's the next Packard Show Event in Warren? PS-I also used to go to Wingfoot Lake in Portage County, Ohio for a car club event. Has anyone picked that back up again once the park became public? If not...is there a way we can? MrC

Mr.C: I've seen that you've posted a number of times regarding car shows in and around northeast Ohio. My suggestion to you would be to check out the CruisinTimes website. They list just about every show, swap, and cruise-in from southeast Michigan to Ohio and western PA that you'd be interested in attending.
For information regarding the Packard Museum's show in Warren, see their website here. As for Wingfoot, I remember attending that show as a member of a local Ford club but it's been years since I even thought of that event. I, too, would be interested in knowing if it's still taking place as it was a nice event.
