Carter starter switch on the carburetor

I have a 1947 Custom Super Clipper (2106) and recently had to install a new part on my Carter carb mounted starter switch. The attached instructions to assemble the switch were kindly provided by Daytona Carburetor rebuilders. In the instructions, the bakelite guide component is one they can "print" should yours break...mine disentegrated.

I have included the instructions. Note carefully that the washers referenced are very rare and tiny and easy to lose!! I handled mine with tweezers. Though not clear in the instructions, they mount on the tiny pin in the bakelite guide item (3). When (5) the W shaped contact spring is pressed all the way down onto the end of the bakelite guard, the washers (item 4) contact (rest) on the bottom of the W shaped spring.

These switches were used on many cars up to the 50's. Unfortunately, no one has taken on manufacturing new one.

Thanks Rscott77x for the PDF on the carb start switch. Very handy reference for my 1951 and 1953 Packard.

The best place to find a starter switch or components is from one of your friendly Packard parts suppliers. Kanter Auto has both good used and perhaps new ones in stock.
