Fuel filler door question

I have a 1949 Deluxe 8 that was missing the fuel filler door. I found a used one on ebay it came with 3 bolts and a spring. I understand there should be 2 springs a front and a rear. Two questions, Where would I find the correct springs for this door? Second question Could someone take a picture of their filler lid open so I can see how the springs are supposed to be attached. I have been working on this car off and on for almost a year. This forum has been invaluable for me I really appreciate all the help you have provided.

Thanks

According to the parts manuals the 22-23 series models use the same springs as the earlier Clippers. I have not looked at any 22-23 series installs of the springs but since the lids are similar assume they work and fit the same as Clippers. Max Merritt has the springs at $12.50 each and has a photo of them on his website in the Clipper section. Select the 41-47 Clipper catalog and search for gr. 30.7918.maxmerrittauto.com

If you are handy with pliers and have some time on your hands you can also order a pack of 6 right hand and 6 left hand torsion springs from McMaster-Carr for a little over $5 per pack plus freight. Might even be able to pick them up in a pack of one or two at a local hardware store. The springs are 90 degree right and left hand twist, .675 OD and made of .063 diameter wire. McMasters numbers are 9271K586 and 9271K652.

Here is the 47 Clipper lid and my version of the springs which were done before I found that Max had them.

I looked at the spring arrangement on my 23rd series and it's just the same as that shown by HH56 in his photos.
