Typically if the rear axle bearing(s) are encased by both an inner and outer seal (for example, prewar senior Angleset rear axles), the bearings are packed with grease. If there is only an outer seal, the bearing is lubricated by the differential gear oil.

I thought that was the case and the parts book seems to confirm it by showing an inside seal. Since it's a 5413, I didn't think it would have its own view or I would have looked before asking!
