Rear Axle Outer Bearing Lubrication

I used to know this but have forgotten - are the outer rear axel bearings lubricated by the differential oil or do they get packed with grease similar to front bearings? I'm sure I'll know the answer as soon as I start taking it apart but some advance knowledge certainly won't hurt either! In case it matters, this is on a 1954 Henney-Packard.

I thought that was the case and the parts book seems to confirm it by showing an inside seal. Since it's a 5413, I didn't think it would have its own view or I would have looked before asking!
