If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Wat,

Typically Packard casting numbers are close to the actual part number often just one digit different.

Using this "logic" looking in the 48-54 Parts List under Group 5.0000 Engine Parts, I found P/n 443651 an intake manifold for a '54 Cavalier and various 26th Series cars.

Thanks, Mal. I had kind of assumed that it was for a 327, and that it might work on a 288. By that time, the GM boys had standardized enough stuff (I think) to increase inter-changeability.

Question becomes, will it retrofit to a 356, or can it be adapted? That's going to have to do with what the spacing is on the intake ports and so on. Fastening likely can be fashioned. Then, what carbs will fit? The holes look awfully dinky.

I thought the price was okay, so I bought it anyway and will play with it to see what's what. That's the luxury of having spares.

I suppose that this manifold only accepts a WCFB . . . .

WCFB: 985. With starter switch.

The Carburetor Shop in MO has a rebuildable core with a rebuild kit for $600 = $50 s/h.

I suppose that it could hurt worse. That's about the price for a new Edelbrock.
