Anyone know where I can get a new fuel pump for a 288 engine (built in '48)?

I've tried rebuilts twice, but they keep failing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Why are they failing??? Done any forensics on the pump to determine why they have failed???? Most likely any pump u get WILL be a rebuild and not new but i don't that for sure.

MIte be easier,faster and cheaper to correct the rebuild tthan to get a "new" one that may fail too.

I have installed easily dozens of fuel pumps from Terrill Machine with zero troubles, The one in my own 51 is probably 15 years in service now and over 30K miles.

My experience is that folks who mix up "helpful" cocktails of various aditives in their fuel end up with unintended consequences of melted rubber parts. All of my driving is done in cars 50 years old and older and they do just great with no additives. Regular use seems to be the best medicine.

If its an old rebuilt pump, they may have used rubber.Todays gas will destroy them in less than a month.Take yours out and send it to terril or Jay Gould.You will get it back in a week and I doubt you will have any more problems..

I too would be interested in knowing what the mode of failure was. I've installed a lot of fuel pumps rebuilt by the better names in this business and never had a failure. Ditto for rebuilding pumps with quality kits.

But....as GTO says if your rebuild was before the advent of ethanol in gasoline, or the kit used predated that, I wouldn't expect the pump to last very long.
