Rear leaf Spring bushing lube?

Hi guys, before I put my rear leaf springs back in, should I apply some lube of some sort to the rubber bushings? No grease, but perhaps a silicon assembly lube? Like what i have for brake cylinder assembly lube, or is anything I put on just going to wash Off quickly any way?

The rubber bushings are to be installed dry w/o lubrication. If were going to go contrary to that I'd probably use some silicone spray lube or even a little brake fluid.

I would check with who made them or who you got the bushing from. They would know best.

Guess I will put them in dry. Rubber should be better than squeaky poly bushings. I can't find anything at eaton about lube, so dry it is. I still have to refurbish the rear axle, so only the front eyes will go in today, the rear eyes will wait a few more weeks. Thanks guys!
Also posted the question on the Eaton springs forum. I'll let you all know what Mike the Spring Guru says!

Ack!
I was just looking in the shop manual, and they do specify lubricating the bushings with brake fluid!!!
Man, I should read and re-read the manual....

Evidently I should as well...sorry about the misinformation.

Many years back when I worked as a grease monkey there was a product called "Ruglyde" which was intended for lubrication of rubber bushings and the like. I don't know if it's still available but I still have a can and use it occasionally.

More than 50, less than 100. Thus about the same age as you are, Randy.

Back in the day when our Packards were newer, it was a common practice to spray on some brake fluid on rubber suspension bushings as part of a chassis lube job. We also applied some motor oil to the outside of the hand brake cable housings. Don't recall doing anything to the leaf springs.
