Just when you think it has been beaten to death...

What color(s) should the vibration damper and pulley and timing indicator be on a '47 356? Green or black?

Thanks

Mark

Pretty sure they're green.

I'm pretty sure JD is correct; there is an assembly line photo alleged to have been taken early in the 22nd series production (when the 21st series were still also in production) that shows the vibration damper the same color as the engine. I can't quite make out the pointer but I think it's safe to assume that if the engine was painted with the vibration damper installed, so was the pointer. It's hard to think they would have done the two series differently when they were being assembled at the same time, or that the 356 would have been treated differently than the other engines. In any case this is the best proof I can think of.

Though it's a B&W photo, I think it's quite clear what parts are engine color.
