22nd Series - Removing dash panel switches?

Mate rebuilding and currently rewiring his 22nd Series '48 Sedan has asked the question: How are the switches, ie lights, etc, on the bottom of the dash below the speaker, removed. Although I had a 23rd Series '50 Sedan didn't have any need to work on the switches on my car so couldn't help him. I'm presuming the '22 and '23 Series switches are the same/similar, see pic of the switches from my '50. Hoping the collective wisdom here will come to the rescue and provide answers.

My mate came back with this:
"Now I am looking for barrel nuts. I will let you know if it works. There is no issue with the old loom(harness), that I removed (mainly with a hacksaw), I am replacing every wire. I found a few screws on the backing plate, these were to stop the non-functioning switches being pushed. Now I can push them, one day I will have a use for them."

Further message from my mate:
"That worked. After contorting myself and putting my head where the glove box was, I found the nuts. So I got the bar out, there are only 2 switches on it. My car is definitely a poverty pack. Pass on my thanks to BDeB please." So, Brian.
