Valve Seat replacement.

I'm rebuilding a '48 288 & it needs some Valve seats replaced. One in particular is too far gone to dress with a seat cutter.

I can not find any reference in the parts book ( other than Valve spring seat - different part) and the exploded engine views are not showing the seats as separate parts. Nothing listed at egge.

Does anyone have an interchange , or specs / measurements on the seats so I can cross reference .

If nothing matches up I can make new seats from scratch but I rather buy them if easily available parts from another engine fit, they can't be any more than $10.00 each , prolly cost me $50 each to make.

I know this is an I8 but I do have V8 valve seats in my basement. I can see who made them, and the specification.

I’ve had quite a few valve seats replaced which was always done by the shop working on the engine machining which was usually a Napa store’s machine shop. It’s not something I would ever considering trying myself and they’ve never had trouble finding an appropriate seat!

Thanks, that means they are a generic or standard seat used across brands. I know SBC seats guides & Valves fit into a Dodge sidevalve I rebuilt a few years ago , But I had the specs to cross referance prior. Good to know before I pull a seat . They are very easy to replace , but having the correct size is crucial, thinking again probably not such a problem with a dropped seat in a sidevalve though.

The V8 valve seats in my basement are in a Clevite box and marked "1812-1 USA".

Hello Bush. You are not seeing "valve seats" in the parts book because there weren't replaceable seats. The seats were machined into the block.
To install a hardened valve seat, the block has to be machined to accept the proper insert. If your block looks like it has replaceable valve seats, they were probably installed by previous owner. Any competent automotive machine shop should be able to do the job and/or order the seat inserts for you. Good luck. PB
