No prototype, Today we'd say it was "photoshopped", back then just a bit of whimsical artistic license.

I am doing this off the top of my head right now. When plans were being made for the 55 & 56 Packards a V12 engine was being considered, but the tooling costs for a V12 engine then would have been $750,000. That cost was deamed to expensive and the idea dropped.

A seller recently offered some Ultramatic tools for auction on eBay, ending each item description with the following line:
"Not for use on the 1965 Packard V12." I hope that comment, which should be taken as tongue-in-cheek, isn't causing any confusion. There was no such car - just a bogus article that was rushed into publication without sufficient fact-checking some years ago. Suffice it to say that article was the source of a lot of controvery and the butt of many jokes. I even photoshopped a Patrician Twelve, back then - not only for a laugh, but to show how easy it was to phake a photo at by that time. Attach file: (14.28 KB)
