352 Crankshaft

I need a crank for a 55 400. Its a 352 cid. If anybody can help.

pretty sure the cranks are the same since the stroke is the same, just the bore is different...but not sure about year to year. 55-56 etc
but i didn't research that...just seems like it makes sense...someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

Does anybody know if I can g0 .060 over on the crank? They have bearings undersized to .060 so somebody has done it. Any input is welcome. Thanks guys.

Rod or main bearings or both????? Who has the .060 under bearings????
Edit: according to the parts catalouge PMCC only offered (maxium) .020 under on the bearings (rod and mains).

Even though the strokes are all 3 1/2", for some reason there is a different part number for the 55 320 crank. Otherwise, all 55-6 are the same.

IIRC Caribs had a forged crank offereing. And somekind of STB or SC indicating an identification mark for one of the Sr. cranks on the front weight (maybe forged carib identification)????
Parts catalouge calls out only 3hree cranks: 5540, 5560-80, and ALL 56.

I think you're right on the forged. Believe Randy has one of the forged type. I only see two part numbers for cranks. Regular types were the same part number for 55 seniors and all 56. Different for the 5540 small 320 engine. 3 numbers for bearing and crank kits. I know they had different heads in early 55 but wonder what the crank difference was.

IIRC the 320 had wider weights therefore bigger pistons would interfere without trimming skirt.
IIRC there is a crank indicated by one of the SC or STB that has a mark (IIRC "B") on front counterweight.

The forged crank wasn't a Carib feature, just a late service part. Easily identified as the crank pins are solid. Yes, Randy did run across one.
I don't recall the details but if you review the Service Counselors or TSBs you'll find one or more mentions of crankshaft interchange. IIRC the first mention was in error and a later entry corrected it - look for both. PS - Quote from the Service Counselor: "Please refer to your Service Counselor Vol 29, No. 5, May 1955.... The crankshafts with a number "4" stamped on a milled surface on one end of the front counterweight may be used in either the "4" or 3-13/16 engines. The crankshafts stamped with the number "3" can only be used in the 3-13/16 bore engines."
