just incase someone knows and didn't notice my tag....i am still looking for my grandfather's 37 138CD limo. i would think that this is a rare bird and that someone on this board across this vast packard cultural mix might know something.

any information is appreciated. last time i knew there were only 2 survivors of this model, my grandfather's was one of them.

alittle history:

my grandfather died in 1993 and the car was sold shortly after by my grandmother to a limo company out of the DFW area.

that limo company put A/C in it, supposedly, and ran it for a few years, then they sold it at the KRUSE Auction. i called them and they didn't seem to want to help me find it.

i don't know what happened to it after that. who it was sold to, etc....

the last memory i have in it was driving in the back of it to my grandfather's funeral....talk about a memory i would like to change.....so let's find it together shall we

there should also be a pink and white 55 or 56 clipper that went up north somewhere...PA i think around the same time. any info on that is appreciated too. i really would like that one back as i was supposed to get it on my 16th birthday, but my grandmother changed her mind as it had trans. problems that needed attention. i think that the pink was the inside strip on the door and whit on the outsides.

thanks,

Hank

Longshot, but does anyone remember a white (w/red interior?) 138cd with modern drivetrain up on ebay within the last year? I vaguely recall in the NY/NJ metro area?

update. i have pictures of it now, including the license plate, unfortunately i have nothing with the tag in the picture. it is diffenently a darker blue color and you can't miss it. supposedly was the only one in north america for a long time. the lady that bought it for the limo company had A/C installed and talked about changing out the drivetrain with my uncle, but he doesn't know if she ever did or not. so it is possible it is not the original drivetrain.

i will take pics of the pictures and post them soon, maybe someone will recognize it. i have pictures of packards dating back all the way to 65. my aunt gave me a huge box of pictures of packards and cars that my grandfather took over the years.

later,

Hank

Hank,
Gorgeous Beauty!
Did you grandfather ever join Packard Automobile Club?
Did he perhaps register it with a Roster Keeper there?

The PAC publishes a Membership Directory and Handbook every two years. It lists all members and their vehicles. It cross indexes them by both model and State of owner's residence.

I have a 2007-2008 Handbook. I will look at it and see if it looks like any help.

he was a VERY avid member of Packards of North Texas and Fort Worth. i have talked to Mark Franko??? i think is his name and he put me into contact with i think his name was Stuart Blonde.....???maybe??? someone that keeps the roster for 120s anyways, looked as some stuff for me, but didn't find anything listed for it, but i don't remember if i called it by the right name of 138CD. it has been about 2 years since i last looked for it. last i got was it was sold at Kruse auction a few years back.....Kruse said they would help me and never called me back...they don't care....

thanks for your help and if you know the roster keeper or if anyone knows the roster keeper for these models, please give me the contact information. my neighbor is a cop and i called him but he refused to run the number for his own reasons.....sux....;0(

God only knows whether or not the lady with the limo company kept the original drivetrain or not.

thanks for the help everyone and for the compliments on the looks of the car.

Hank

Hank,

The "138CD" number is the chassis number. The PAC Directory lists the corresponding body type number as a "1090CD Limo" (page 27).
Your pictures show the divider window of a limo.

The current PAC directory lists only one 1937 138CD 1090CD Limousine (page 168). The owners are listed as Lawrence and Linda Dolan of Michigan. Their address and phone number are listed on page 80 of the directory.

I hesitate to list some non-members address and phone number on the PInfo website. I will email it to you on the PInfo private messaging.

It seems that this might be another 137CD like your grandfathers. They are rare cars.
