Looks fantastic to me. I was high bidder on a lark, what if the reserve was 15K? No one? Okay, likely 19-20K, but is it really not worth that? If I was not deployed, and the wife wouldn't have beaten me too hard, I would be all over this, and it is 27 yys younger than my scrap pile, (in progress)

Chevy in this condition would go for twice this much, would it not?

I think the buy it now price is a bit overdone, but a little over the reserve price is not unreasonable. You would spend that much restoring a #4 car to that condition.
Money is tight these days.

Hi

Looks to be nicely restored and a costly job....but, money is tight for so many.....or not assured in the future.....collector cars being nice to enjoy......but a luxury one can live without!

Check the "Riddle me this, why? why? why? thread regarding low or flat values for these fine cars.

BTW, the hood ornament is '52-'54 Senior models, looks nice on it, though.

Here's the Craigslist posting, $15,500.

so, my question remains, why not? and yes, I read the whole string about chevy / ford. but, it is still a damn fine looking car. okay, the air cleaner missing, and funny routed wiring is a little suspect, but still, what gives? Help educate the naive, or I might just do something silly when i get back!

and no I don't have any affiliation

Ray

i once spoke to a man selling a Model N Ford. He was, at the time, asking an outrageous price. His wife had told him to sell one of his cars, so he was "selling " it .but he had ensured that no one would buy it.....

intersting, I once bought a bike from a guy with an add that read "apparently do whatever the hell you want to do, meant something different to her than to me"

No, I don't think a '55 Chevy 4 door would go for twice the buy it now price of this car. With that said, I see the auction has just ended so I can only hope you pulled the trigger and now have a fine looking Packard to drive and enjoy. I really like the color. It is a surprisingly fine looking two-tone combination.

Not for $21500 they don't.

Old Cars Price Guide says $8100 for a #3 1955 Packard Clipper Custom Sedan. $12,600 for a #2 and $18,000 for a #1.

With the best wishes in the world, I can't see someone paying more for that car than a Pebble Beach show winner. It's a #3 at best.

$9300 is a very generous offer for that car, $1200 over book value.

The owner is just greedy, or a dreamer
