My 1928 is made of ash, with a dash of maple thrown in. As for a kit, I would be skeptical of that, as even when these were new, (according to the parts manual that I have), they wouldn't guarantee a door fit with replacement body panels, (or vice-versa). So these need to be custom fit.
For the record, almost all of my wood is bad, and a little patience goes a long way! Worst case, you throw away some cheap wood and start over. Good Luck! Ray,
