Advice needed on selling car

Hi all,
I recently placed my 1947 Clipper six on the cars for sale portion of the forum. It has had a lot of views but little interest. Perhaps some of the wiser members here could offer some insight as to why this is so. Price too high? Cars selling slowly at this particular time? Plain vanilla four door sedan? I would really like this car to go to a good home.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Jim

I have no idea of price and such for your era of Packard, but I will say that I never look at car ads that don't include photos. I think you ought to post as many pictures as you have with the for sale offering... That's my two cents worth!

Oops! I messed up and hit the wrong tab!

Here is my take:

That looks like a pretty nice car. It looks to be in good shape, overall. If you want to know what to charge for it, you can try the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), which prices antique cars sort of like Kelley Blue Book. Another source for gauging the price is reviewing similar cars listed on Craig's List and Hemmings Motor News. Good Luck!

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

For comparison sake, a really, really nice 1941 Clipper just sold on eBay for around $19,000. It was an eight. So it was quite a bit more desirable.

Also, there was a very nice 1946 (or '47) Six that was recently advertised on this forum for $12,500. It was a club sedan, which, arguably, is also more desirable.

I'm not knocking your car, I'm just trying to give you a couple of reference points.

Hello Wryhawk:

Here is a link to the site "MrBumble" was talking about:
nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1947/Packard

Just select your model and follow the steps. This pricing guide is about as good as you will find out there.

The color is 1965 Chevrolet truck "Marlin Blue" if I'm not mistaken. The former owner in Largo, FL painted it. I wouldn't have chosen that shade, but it may have looked more at home in Florida. the car was originally Atlantic Blue.

While a nice car (like all Packards!)I think that being the lowest model on the totem pole and a six works against it, as most people think "prestige" when they think of Packard. These were the kind of lower priced cars that diluted the Packard image, at least in the minds of many enthusiasts.
Just my $.02
