Packard sign on American Pickers

The guys on American Pickers purchased a round Packard sign, perhaps five feet across, with mounting brackets for $3000. The sign appeared to be in good condition.

I guess $3000 is a fair price.

I saw a similar-sized sign at a classic car dealer in the Los Angeles area. It was double-sided, good condition and they wanted $5800.

I often wonder what happened to the large vertical and round signs that were on my father's dealership building. Probably go hauled off to the land fill decades ago. JWL

JW: If a guy only knew what they'd be worth down the road?!?!? There are so many things like that, where seemingly worthless things become incredibly sought after and therefore very valuable. The trick is to know the difference between 'real' junk and the possible 'nuggets'. So many of these hoarder's collections are 90% 'haul-to-the-landfill when they pass, but somewhere in there, are pieces worth a lot. If I'm honest, when I look around at a lot of the stuff I save, a great deal of it would fall in that latter category!! Chris
