While surfing the web doing some reseach of Holden the down under division of GM, in the country of our one and only Mal.

I came across what I think is a dam cool good looking concept car. The car is the Holden Efijy. The come floor pan and running is based on the American Corvette. The engine in the Efijy is a 6 Liter super charged Corvette engine.

Some may like it other may not. I know that this has nothing to do with Packards, but what heck.

Mal: Holden sure does produce some cool vehicles. I wished GM would consider importing some the UTS that are built by Holden here to the USA.

John,

Sweet. I's take one. The grill almost looks Packard :)

Wasn't the lastest GTO based off a Holden?

I saw that concept at the Detroit auto show last year. It looked good. GM is finally rediscovering style.

'bout time.

Yay for Bob Lutz!

The Holden Efijy takes it's style cues from the FJ Holden produced between 1953 and 1956, The Holden car was introduced to the Australian market in 1948 with the same body style and was known as the type 215 or FX. The FJ was just a cosmetic upgrade of the FX. See pic below of an FJ Holden.

In fact the FX was actually styled in Detroit by GM and you can see some resemblance to late 40's Chevs in the body styling. GM actually handbuilt the prototypes in Detroit and shipped them to Holden in Australia. One of these prototypes was sold about a year or so ago at auction and went for over $3/4 Million Aussie Dollars.

And John, in outback Australia "Real Men Drive Utes".

Tom - The GTO was a Holden Monaro re-engineered for Pontiac with LHD, re-positioned fuel tank and a different hood as the major changes required for the US. In fact the Monaro was a concept car built by Holden Engineers in their spare time and was such a success on the motor show circuit here that Holden HAD to build it to meet the demand. The last Monaro off the assembly line sold for over $1 Million Aussie Dollars, to get this, a Ford guy!

Mal,

Wow a cool million to a Ford cool...

You are probably aware that the latest GTO did not hit it big here. The reason why is it did not resemble the old style at all. GM just did not hit the mark on that one like Ford did with the new Mustang and Chrysler is doing with the new Challenger. Ok GM is coming out with a New Camaro but I can't make a 2 cent opinion on it since I have not seen it yet.

WOW
A cool Flame paint job, a pair of Fuzzy Dice hanging off the rear view mirror, and some Air jumper shocks and it would be a great Low Rider here in San Fernando. I almost forgot the little bobble head dog in the back window.
