Check with Max Merritt. They just bought all the engines out of the Packard museum, and I'm pretty sure there were some included.

This '53 Clipper club sedan might have a usable engine:

We've got a '53 327" 4-bbl core engine we've been wanting to rebuild. Are you interested in a completely rebuilt engine?

I know this is old, but if you still need a 288, I'm pretty sure I have one. Shipping is going to suck, but I'd be happy to be rid of it for $100, if you pay shipping or arrange for it to disappear.
The bad news is it would be a residential liftgate pickup, because I don't have a vehicle yet that'll hold it. The good news is I have a pallet ready to go.

There's a guy in Amarillo who has a 327 (bearings count unknown) on a pallet at his house. If you'll go and pick it up, he'll let you have it gratis. I was going to but other options have made it unnecessary at this stage.
