Pre 24th series back up light

Just wondering if anyone has installation instructions or knows what was done when dealers added a back up light. Mine didn't have one so am going to add the necessary wiring while things are open.

I know the electrical hookup but question is how the wiring was routed. There is no extra wire in the normal rear body loom and doubt the headliner would have been touched to run anything extra in that spot.

The 21st series has no empty accessory grommets in the firewall and I don't believe 22-23 did either. Other than the large one at the top where speedo and OD cables exit, the few present are fairly well occupied. Did they cut another lower hole or squeeze a single feed wire thru an existing spot? How about the route to the back. I'm going to protect mine but curious if they just ran a single wire down the frame or did they protect it in some way. If down the frame, which side -- inside with brake line or outside with fuel line -- or something else entirely.

HH,

Wasn't there some information in the Service Councelors, about installing the back up lights?

There may be but I don't remember any with install details. There are several prewars suggesting dealers promote them more but that's all I saw.

Howard - I would think the wire from the column mounted switch back to the lamp would be along the frame. It should be easy enough to provide a fused feed wire to the switch from a battery source in the engine compartment. Knowing you, it would look professional and authentic. My Clipper is like yours, no back-light.

Would you like an under hood light? I have one still in the box with instructions - complete. I am not going to mount it on my Clipper.

Thanks for posting the official instructions. Perhaps others might need them in the future so maybe Kev could copy them into an appropriate place. I was going to put them into the templates folder but they are not really templates.

It only calls for one. The second light is shown with measurements for location if installed on a RHD car.
