Hi - can someone please help me? A friend here in the UK has a '55 Clipper hardtop coupe which has had its wheel hubs bastardised to fit some non-original wheels. can anyone tell the correct wheel and tyre size, and the bolt pattern?
Thanks!

The wheels should be 15", 5.5" wide between the beads. The bolt circle is 5 bolts on a 4.5" circle.

For modern radials, I like to run 225 75 15 tires. These work quite well on that width rim, and you will have no trouble with rubbing the fender wells.

If you get really stuck for rims to use, there are a vast array of Chrysler rims that work quite well as they have the same bolt circle tho they will not let you use the small hubcaps. Where you are, I realize that is no great help.

I did just use some reproduction 15" x 6" rims from Speedway Motors. At only $49 apiece with free shipping (here), I can't justify blasting and painting old rims. They might send some to you for a price. Again these are suitable only for the full diameter wheel covers.

I was thinking I used a Ford rim for a spare with the 4 1/2 bolt pattern on my 56 clipper.

1980 Dodge half ton pick up truck will fit. 88 ford ranger pick up will fit.
It is my understanding that there are numerous 88'ish ford rangers in Ireland.
The Dodge wheel interchanges with my 56 Executive and 88 Ranger.
Only minor offset differences.
Just be sure sny dodge or rsnger are 15" and not 14". They come in both 14 and 15.

Bottom line: Mopar and Ford should interchange across msny years and models.

Also note that the MoPar and Ford wheel i mention above is the SMALL bolt pattern wheels that were used on the lighter duty vehicle. Thee BIG Mopar and Ford models used a larger bolt pattern.

Such wheels are most plentiful here in the US.

Anyone have ideas for a 15" senior wheel with a 5" bolt pattern? All I saw at Speedway with 5" holes was a couple of fancy cast items.

Howard, you could check with Wheel Vintiques in City of Industry, California (800-959-2100). They manufacture a wide variety of steel and other wheel types. I just ordered a new set of Mopar type wheels for my Avanti. They come power coated, but others they offer are just primed.

I just tried it for 5 lug x 5" circle.
It lists at least 50 different vehicles. Mostly GM 64'ish to 92'ish a few F and couple of C.
