Trying to find out if this is a Monroe pump.

0 is readable.

900 is what Packard states is Monroe high pressure

Made by Eaton Corporation. Very similar to Ford, IHC, AMC, Studebaker applications so parts are easy!

Question would be if anyone knows if the pumps for Bendix systems were identified with any markings. Packard does not mention any markings for Bendix in the 1955 SC article on how to identify the pumps.

The pumps for 55-56 Monroe systems have a higher pressure output and according to Packard those were identified by a 900 stamped on the output fitting. I have one and it is clearly stamped 900. The pump Riki shows only has a single stamped 0 so did Packard get lazy in the last days and save stamping time on Monroe pumps by using a single digit or could Bendix pumps have been labeled in that way?

With the pump mounted in the car the labeling is low and well hidden so if anyone has a known Bendix pump that is out of the car or maybe in a car without a battery so the output fitting can at least be seen and would check it could help answer the question.

Expect using bushings is probably a decision made by Eaton rather than Packard. No idea if the bronze shaft bushing or the large outer bushing the rotor spins in is what the SM calls a rotor pocket bushing but from the way inspection describes them plus no replacement part numbers listed for bushings, if worn they were not supposed to be field replaceable.

The rotor fits good in the bushing still.

The bronze ones I still have to see how the shaft fits.

I would think Must be after market bronze ones. Since those pumps are not made any more.

I might ask this place down the hill that repairs these see what they do

Ok. So put my rebuilt power steering pump on.

Turns off the belt. But doesn't want to
Turn with belt. Engine running.

Do they get hydraulic lock?. No problem with the one that sat for 50 years.

Only thing I can think is bushing for rotor is bad.

Taking it to the place that rebuilds this stuff see what they come up with..

Replaced bearing with an skf

Even though that's suction. The oil cones up the cap bolt. So if not tight oil can by pass filter.

That's what I can up with to check pump.

The speed nut I made will bottom out on that fitting so should not leak passed.
