Scammer Alert

User Bira registered yesterday and then left some pedestrian comments on various posts.

But messaged me to say he knew someone with a clock.

His (Bira) email is gared8578@gmail.com, his friend's email is venturahy63@yahoo.com.

While his email isn't referenced anywhere online, his "friends" email is referenced on several different forums as being private msg'd to people looking for parts, and then wanting PayPal for the parts and requesting them to send it with the "Friends and Family" option set, which then is non-recoverable. Same M.O. of sending you a private message with another email address of a "friend".

So I checked to see if he sent PMs to anyone else, and he did with the following, also known, scammer emails:

rodger3421@gmail.com
montrealbillings925@gmail.com

Notice the email address patterns? SomeNameSomeNumber@gmail or yahoo. All too similar, which besides having no online profile for his own email, and having a somewhat rare part, raised instant red flags.

Remember folks, if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Never pay anyone with Zelle, or PayPal (with the Friends and Family option). With regular PayPal you have some buyer protection, and for that, a fee on the transaction is paid by the seller. Friend and Family charges no fee, and also has zero protection for the buyer.

This guy has been banned, but since he obviously has been doing this for a while, probably has many different aliases. So, just be wary of anyone you don't know offering things.

I saw his posts and was immediately suspicious. Presumably the person's membership was revoked.(?)

In any event, using Friends and Family for purchases is against PayPal's policy that users agreed to when joining when the recipient is selling a product or service. Not only is there no protection as you said but also you end up paying the fee when the recipient is the one benefiting from the payment. If someone is going to let themselves be scammed, at least make the recipient pay the fees!

Got a note from Bira also, the montreal emal scam. Palpay let me know the email he wanted me to use was a scam and would not let me send. My question is bira was marked as a regular input er with I think four stars!! His thread disappeared from my inbox.

He only joined yesterday. He replied to five or six posts to give him a little "status" here on the website.

You can always click on someone's name to see their profile and check when they joined. Beware of anyone who just joined.

Once I figured out he was up to no good, I scrubbed him from the website. So that is why the messages from him disappeared.

I noticed a post from Bira. When I clicked not th user name, it came up as me! I first thought it was a glitch with the site, but clicking on other user names came up with the right people. I immediately changed my password. After I changed my password, I noticed that the post from “Bira” had changed to “Anonymous”.

Not sure if they had hacked my account or not.

I think that was just a timing/caching issue with the website as I was purging him from it.

Ken P let me know that another Scammer had been sending numerous private messages to people looking for parts, asking them to contact another person at an email address for the specific parts they were seeking.

Be very careful unless you know who you are dealing with.

If you see any of these email addresses, they are a scam.

kilozheter@ aol.com
tree3beard97@ aol.com
kilozheter@ yahoo.com
hpullapartz@ yahoo.com

Or any variation similar to, and possible from other email domains.

Also, note the space between 'email@ domain.com'. This is typically done to circumvent protection software that checks for known bad email addresses. So, in the future, that should be a red flag warning.

If you see these, please report them to me.

I've deleted all the Private Messages that this user sent out.

If possible, consider using PayPal to send money to someone, as that offers some level of protection for getting your money back. But do not take the "Friends and Family" option. That gives you zero protection. If the seller won't accept a regular PayPal payment and insists on the "Friends and Family" option so they don't incur a fee, that is another Red Flag.

Do not use Zelle or other instant payment apps either. You usually get zero protection in the case of fraud.
